The BOLTZE family has expanded just in time for World Bee Day! A total of 20 beehives have found a home on the 105,000 sqm company premises of the headquarters in Braak near Hamburg, Germany. Adjacent to the BOLTZE office building and logistics center is a large meadow surrounded by trees and fields, which is an ideal habitat for the honeybees.
For the second year in a row, BOLTZE cooperates with the Lasbek beekeeping company and provides the bees with a suitable site. Last year, the first beehives were set up on the company premises. The numerous hives house a total of between 500,000 and 800,000 bees. They are supervised by a professional beekeeper who regularly checks up on the bees and takes care of them. At Christmas time, BOLTZE then gives away the extracted honey to its employees and customers.
On World Bee Day, we would like to draw attention to the importance of bees. They are indispensable for maintaining the ecological balance. Their pollination services ensure the diversity of food for countless living creatures. However, the living conditions for bees are increasingly deteriorating, so that in recent years more and more bee populations have been dying off worldwide. With small measures, everyone can do their bit to protect bees and insects. Put up insect hotels in your garden, make sure that your garden plants are bee-friendly or set up a bee watering trough with water on hot days.
